IZY RIFF
Already in her childhood, Izy Riff enjoyed rock, blues, Latin and funk and listened to music by Guns n' Roses, Aerosmith, Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana, among others. At the age of 7, Izy picked up the guitar and hasn't let it go since.
"I couldn't wait for the weekly guitar lessons... after every lesson, I immediately unpacked the guitar and practiced until my fingers couldn't take any more."
As the years went by, Izy Riff developed her unique style of playing the guitar and devoted herself more and more to composing her own songs. Izy accompanied the melodies almost naturally with lyrics and thus developed her singing voice.
Her first stage experiences were not long in coming. At 16, Izy got a monthly gig in a Viennese beer bar - about 30 minutes before the main band of the evening.
"The experiences I was able to gain have shaped my entire career. I went through the 'ox tour' and learned to assert myself. That made me strong!"
Shortly afterwards, Izy Riff founded the band Riff'N'Taff together with drummer Van Taff. At first they played as a duo with guitar, vocals and drums. Later the band developed into a blues-rock quartet and Izy switched from guitar to bass.
"I never thought I would develop such a love for playing bass. The deep tones, the groove and the connection with the drums really appealed to me."
In addition to the new project, Izy Riff continues to work on his own songs and begins to record them. Izy's self-produced debut album, 'something of the acoustic kind', will be released on December 9, 2022. The 12 tracks, including the intro and outro, reflect the first part of Izy's solo career through the acoustic sounds.
"An acoustic guitar, my voice and profound lyrics... that is the essence of 'something of the acoustic kind'. Without a lot of frills, without countless over dubs, acoustic and pure."
At the beginning of 2023, Izy joined the band Broken Pacemaker as a singer. At the second concert, she also took over the bass and the alternative rock band formed a trio with guitarist Björn Schneider and drummer Sebastian Fraißl. In January 2025, Izy Riff left the band for personal reasons.
Izy worked on her own compositions and began to arrange them for a band. In spring 2024, she founded the power trio Izy Riff & The Lucky Boys. Frontwoman Izy on guitar and vocals, together with Sebastian Fraißl (drums) and Matias Parada (bass) perform exclusively songs by Izy in this constellation.
On February 27, 2024, Izy Riff released the single 'let the sun shine again' - a very profound song about the loss of her beloved grandmother. With the exception of Sebastian Fraißl on drums, Izy plays all the other instruments herself.
Morena Leraba, singer and musician from Lesotho, hired Izy as a guitarist in the summer of 2024 and they played together at the Sziget Festival in Hungary.
At the end of 2024, Izy met the Texan blues-rock guitarist and singer Lance Lopez on his European tour and traveled with him and his band for some shows.
"At the moment I'm spending a lot of time working on and recording new songs and ideas. I'm also playing a lot of guitar, learning new techniques and composing songs. 2025 will bring some releases and changes... I'm traveling to America in the spring to visit my partner Lance Lopez."
